We are proud to offer organic grass fed beef, produced by Farhope Farms in Ripley. This couple has been farming together for 36 years and they represent the fifth generation of the family on their farm. They have raised their children and they now have grandchildren running around.
Farhope Farms is a great example of how Farmers retire. After decades of organic dairy farming they have decided to take it easy… by renovate the barn and raising organic grass fed beef. There really is no slowing this couple down! I have always admired their dedicated community involvement and constant willingness to learn new things.
Their beef is organically certified through Ecocert. This means they adhere to a strict organic standard. There are no GMO crops or chemical fertilizers used on their farm. All their feed is grown by them and continuous care is always taken to nurture the soil and the animals in a natural way.
Farhope Farm’s Beef is finished on grass, creating meat that has a lower overall fat content. As well as a high concentration of healthy fats and an increased quantity of vitamins and minerals. When compared to grain fed beef, grass fed is particularly high in Omega 3 fatty acids. The same healthy fatty acids found in flax seed and fish that have been shown to be good for heart health. Grass fed beef has also been shown to be higher in vitamin E, vitamin A and conjugated linolinic acid. Feeding cattle grain changes the pH of their stomach and alters the way that they absorb nutrients. These changes directly translate into the nutrient content of the meat. Keeping cattle on grass increases the nutrient content of the meat and enhances the flavour.
